Being a pot head just took on a whole new meaning. I recently started taking pottery classes at Temple of Mediclaytion, an institution of community and creativity, located in the heart of the Venice Beach art scene. Patrick Johnston of Hot Soup Ceramics is their resident artist, top mud man and kiln master. If you have ever been to Groundworks or Rose Cafe and sipped coffee out of their mugs, you have had your paws on a Hot Soup original.

The studio has eight wheels, a handbuilding & sculpting area, and six kilns. Classes are offered in six-week sessions, one day a week. Classes are available on Monday – Thursday. Pro tip: if you want to learn from the master himself, Patrick teaches his beginner course on Monday nights. For those of you who are trying to make your weeknights more zen, you can sign up for the Temple’s classes HERE. In the meantime, check out these snaps from my most recent Monday-funday. #getcentered
